The 2017 Spearingforum Auction Aftermath

Postby chris oak » September 10th, 2017, 9:46 am

I am tired AF and trying to slug it through at work but wanted to thank everyone who made it out! Before I forget we want to thank all the sponsors who made this event possible.

We had guys show up from Santa Barbara, all the way down to San Diego. Orlando and Jackie Rojas showed up and that was a real privilege to hang out with them and see Orlando picking up the path of Rene.

We ended up with a TON of raffle gear, from glasses, bags, guns, floatlines, slip tip and ton of apparel. We had so much gear that we blew it and ran out of tickets, next time we'll bring 2000 instead of 500. Some lucky guy walked away with a JBL reaper gun! We had some great silent auction items as well and a lot of guys got caught sleeping and didn't wake up until it was over. "What, it's over? Why didn't you give a last call?" Us, "we did, we did three last calls, lol".

The vids were fantastic, we had so many that we had to cull them thru to about six but they included mine, Dams, Mike Raabe, Austin, Kei, and CJ's. We'll see if we can get permission to put them up online so you guys can see them.

It was great fun catching up with old friends and making new ones, it looked like most of the clubs had guys there. We had a lot of guys come up and thank us for putting something like this together, the dive community is always strong and a lot of fun to hang out with. As usual we had a hard time kicking people out when it was over because everyone wanted to catch up and chat. They were still out in the parking lot when I drove home. The next time you see Richie ask him to show you his arial photos of his boat taken from the spotter plane, lol :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:

btw Bill, Eric Donohue's father was there and wanted to meet you, he said to say hello.

Yah we missed ya there Bill. I wish I could take all the credit but it was a lot of Dams work on planning as well and running the videos etc. Thank goodness the dive community is strong and the sponsors helped us by kicking in products so we wouldn't have to eat the rental fees. It is a ton of planning though so we'll see if it ends up being a biyearly thing. The bummer is, I wish there was a location that was affordable and central to both the SD and LA guys.

Like I said before, the best part about the party is seeing everyone laughing and having a great time, hearing guys roll up to us to thank us for putting it together means a lot.
