Broken Rivets on Rubber Weight Belt

Postby white_sea_buss » February 4th, 2018, 7:15 am

I have one of the rubber weight belt that folds around a metal buckle and is fastened back on itself with two rivets. One of the rivets broke (due to corrosion) on a recent trip, and the other is getting close as well. I was able to use zip ties as a temporary fix, but want a more permanent solution.

Are the rivets used for this a specific size or material? Do any dive shops carry these so I can get 2 rather than a whole box?

Thanks in advance!

Aluminum rivets will work fine. Stainless will last longer. Mori sells a super glue that will work also. I think a regular stainless screw into a lock nut filed smooth and flush would also work.

Mori has a tire glue that he uses to glue weight belts instead of using screws/rivets. It's very strong stuff
