So my new truck has the proximity key fob where if you are near the vehicle and touch the door it opens the lock. This is great for when you have the remote in your pocket and are coming back from the store, but sucks when you are doing a shore dive and hide your keys under the vehicle or lock your key to your trailer hitch. I used to use a regular master lockbox on my old truck and just lock it to the trailer hitch. I tried that with the new truck and when the vehicle has been armed and you put that lockbox on the hitch, thieves can open up your car because the proximity key allows that.
This new type has a faraday cage built in it that blocks the signal. If you guys are doing shore dives and have proximity keys you might look into this. BTW I used to hide my keys in the bushes etc, but too many tweekers/homeless etc in pedro/p v now and I don't like them watching to see where I'm ditching my stuff. I won't take my bag and just leave it on the beach when I'm diving for the same reason.
